Upside down...

Well, Travis is gone this evening (which is unusual for us) and I have nothing to do. Mom's not home, so I can't call her, and I really don't want to do any homework. I just thought I'd update you all on the goings on in our lives. It really seems as if things are turning upside down.

The kitchen, for starters, is a wreck. Some of you know how crazy (and yes, I do mean crazy) I get when things aren't just the way I think they should be- not to mention irritable. I'm sure it's a character flaw, but hey, whatever. There is tile in my garage that needs to be laid down, but still some prep work to do. I'm working this weekend and the schedule just gets worse from here, so it really looks like either I'm not going to be sleeping, or the kitchen isn't going to get done. Neither of those options are very good for my craziness or my irritability.

Aiden is 3. I don't really know what else to say about that matter except for the defiant little twirp is really getting to me. I can't remember Sophie being this bad, but I'm sure it was so. I kind of remember Tiffany commenting on how defiant Sophie was and that her boys weren't that defiant... I'm pretty sure that mom's just forget the bad! I know Travis does. He seems to think Sophie was perfect! Purely delusional!

It takes us an hour to get to bed at night because Aiden has to get up and pee 4 times. Seriously, he does this at nap time to. Only yesterday I found out that he had gotten a permanent marker out of the trash in my bathroom, took it to his room, colored on his face, tummy, feet, jeans, and sheets and then got back up and put it back in the bathroom trash. I just thought he had to pee. How stuipd am I?

We went shopping for a swim suit this evening and Sophie couldn't find one that wasn't too tight or too itchy. Now she's mad because we came home without a swimsuit. I told her that I wasn't buying something that she was not going to appreciate. I remember another little girl who wouldn't wear anything that wasn't comfortable. Hmmm....she still doesn't!

Aiden told me, "You have a big butt, mommy." Who taught him the word "butt?"

I signed Sophie up for kindergarten today. This is going to be a big change for us. I'm actually going to get some individual time with Aiden and I'm actually looking forward to it. I remeber all the things that I used to do with Sophie before Aiden came along. Hopefully we can have some good fun together.

School starts on July 16!!! That is coming fast!!! Kindergarten orientation is May 12. I'll take pics and post them. We have school year-round, so if any of you want to plan vacations to come see us (hint, hint), we have 3 weeks off in September, 3 weeks off at Christmas and 3 weeks off in March. The summer break is 6 weeks.

I also signed the kids up for swimming lessons today at the Y. Our peditrician told me that I needed to get Sophie in swimming lessons. She's probably right. I don't swim well and probably took lessons for 15 years. (exaggeration) I tend to be scared of the water and don't take my kids swimming at all. They should probably learn. (This is why we're swim suit shopping in February!) They will be going on Saturday mornings. It will give daddy something to do while I'm sleeping on Saturdays!

We walked by Victoria's Secret at the mall this evening and Sophie said, "That swim suit is NOT appropriate!" It's funny. We've got rules about suits that show your belly. You have no idea how hard it is to find a one piece swim suit that is CUTE these days. You should see some of the suits out there for 5 -year-olds. What are these people thinking? Bikinis for kids... I guess they're training them early... well, not my kid!

We will all be heading to Chicago for a quick weekend trip to pick up our cabinets. I'm pretty excited about this. They have to be assembled, so we need to get them so Travis can work on putting them together.

Well, that's enough of that. Just some random thoughts on stuff that doesn't really matter. If anyone wants a 3-year-old, I'll stick him in the mail... just let me know.

Just relax and enjoy your kids!!!! They grow up too fast. It doesn't matter if the house is in a state of construction- just concentrate on how beautiful it will be when it is done! As far as three year olds go- let me tell you boys are a different breed than girls and you just better get ready for an adventure. Don't compare Sophie and Aiden! That is like comparing apples and oranges. I know you have a lot on your plate and you are tired, but you have to remember that the kids don't understand all the things going on in your life- they think the world revolves around them! Hang in there. Dana

I know you don't think it is funny now but you will look back and laugh about this some day. Okay - maybe a long time - but you will laugh. (I'm laughing now). Hope you got pictures of the "martian".

I enjoy your stories. Just remember the remodel is only temporary.

Love, Grammy

I'm so glad to hear someone else talk about not allowing swimsuits that aren't modest. I have two boys, but I'm already preparing for when I have a girl! :-)

It really is sad how inappropriate girls' clothing is these days. Why does a 5 year-old need a word written on the seat of her pants?!

You make me giggle! Your kids are hilarious!

Did you already head to Chicago? It would be awesome if there was time for me to meet you there for lunch or something. We are only a few hours and there is a train that goes from here to Chicago several times a day. We should do it sometime! :)
